GEBCO: associated meeting, proposer and year of proposal (en): Associated meeting: SCUFN-29. Proposer: New Zealand Geographic Board (NZGB). Year of proposal: 2014.     
GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Named in association with Taieri River on the adjacent New Zealand mainland. "Taieri" can translate to mean "shining river" or "to smash or pulp", or it may also derive from "Makotaieri", lit. an edible fish that occurs locally.    
Additional information (en): This feature trends NW-SE on the upper continental slope 40 km south of Otago Peninsula, and offshore from the SE coast of the South Island of New Zealand. It is one of the tributaries of Bounty Sea Channel. The name first appeared on NZ Coastal Bathymetr
