Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery: History: Named from Uruti Point on the adjacent New Zealand mainland. Lit. "uru": grove; "ti": cabbage tree. There is a macron on the "i".

Additional information: This broad, flat depression that trends NE-SW on the continental slope, is located 30 km offshore from the SE coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The name first appeared on NZ Coastal Bathymetry Series (CBS) chart 'Palliser' in 1988. Minimum depth (m): 1000. Maximum depth (m): 1250. Total relief (m): 250. Dimension: 65 km x 20 km
