Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Brazilian survey vessel "Sirius". Year of discovery: 2011. History: Named from the nearby coastal city of Macau, in the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Norte. The term Macau originates from the Chinese "A-ma-ngao" which means shelter or port.
