Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Dayang Yihao". Year of discovery: 2009. History: The term "Xiaoge", which means a way to intone with rhythm and sorrow, comes from a poem known as Baihua in Shijing·Xiaoya. Shijing is a collection of ancient Chinese Poems from the 11th to 6th centuries BC: "The Biao Stream quietly flows northward, moistening fields in which rice grows. My sighs become a song of sorrow when I recall the man I follow." This poem expresses the woman's sadness and sense of loss because of the absence of her husband.
