Belgica information (fr): Ile de 5 km de long, située à 2 km au sud de l’île Nansen, dans la partie est de la baie Wilhelmina, au large de la côte ouest de la Terre de Graham. Découverte par l’expédition belge en Antarctique de 1897-1899 sous le commandement d’Adrien de Gerlache et baptisée du nom d’une circonscription de la ville de New York – Brooklyn – patrie du Dr Frederick A. Cook, membre américain de l’expédition qui travailla en qualité de chirurgien, anthropologue et photographe. |

Belgica information (nl): Dit 5 km lange eiland ligt 2 km ten zuiden van Nansen Eiland in het oostelijke deel van de Wilhelmina Baai, voor de westkust van Graham Land. De Belgische Antarctica expeditie (1897-1899) onder leiding van Adrien de Gerlache ontdekte het eiland en noemde het naar Brooklyn, NY, de thuisstad van Dr. Frederick A. Cook, een Amerikaans lid van de expeditie. Hij was chirurg, antropoloog en fotograaf. |
