Notes |
General information (en): The seaward boundary of the area is a line from the Mull of Kintyre to Coreswall Point on the Galloway peninsula. The area extends to the tidal limit of the estuary of the River Clyde.
The term "Clyde Sea Area" was used by Hugh Robert Mill (1889) who did pioneering oceanographic and meteorological work in this area. Source: Mill, H.R. (1889) The Clyde Sea Area. I. Physical Geography. II. Salinity and chemical composition of the water. Edinburgh Philosophical Transactions, 36: 641-729. |
