Belgica information (en): Mountain rising near the head of Hippocrates Glacier in the S part of Brabant Island, in the Palmer Archipelago. First mapped by the BelgAE under Gerlache, 1897-99. Photographed by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. in 1956-57, and mapped from these photos in 1959. Named by the UK-APC for Imhotep (c. 2890 B.C.), who lived in Egypt and was the first physician to emerge as an individual. http://geonames.usgs.gov |
