GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 2001. History: Named from the nearby city of Katsuura, a renown fishery town in the Boso Peninsula, near Tokyo, Japan.    
Additional information (en): This feature is located at the mouth of Boso Canyon. It has an oval shape. Multibeam surveys were conducted by Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo" in Nov. 2001, Feb. 2005, Jul. 2005, Oct. 2006 and Sep. 2007.Dimension: About 55 km long.
