GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Named after Captain W.N. Kettle (1918-69). A native of Newfoundland, Captain Kettle served in turn as Master of the Acadia, the Baffin, and the Hudson. In 1969, he met a sudden and untimely death from heart failure.
