GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 2004. History: Named from the nearby Kazahayahoshi Seamount. "Kazahayahoshi" is a term of a traditional Japanese dialect meaning "Southern Cross".    
Additional information (en): At around this latitude (15°N), the Southern Cross can be seen even in the Northern Hemisphere. Accordingly, a number of undersea features on and around Kyushu-Palau Ridge are named from Japanese traditional dialect terms designating the Southern Cross.To
