GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: New Zealand hydrographic survey vessel HMNZS "Lachlan". Year of discovery: 1968. History: Formerly, West Cavalli Seamount. In the 18th century, "cavalli" was the European name for the fish species "trevally". This fish is called "araara" by Maori (the indigenous people of New Zealand).    
Additional information (en): This is an isolated flat-topped and irregular feature, approximately 11 km west of Cavalli Seamount. The name first appeared on NZ Coastal Bathymetry Series (CBS) chart 'North Cape' in 1990. Minimum depth (m): 788. Maximum depth (m): 1800. Total relief (m): 1012. Dimension: 91 km².
