GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Taken from a 1958 GEBCO sheet, on which it was named, in French, "Banc de l'Echo". The name, Echo Bank, originated with the German Meteor Expedition of 1925-1927. The Meteor discovered North and South Echo Banks in May 1927 on the homeward bound
