GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Probably named after Walter Roy Seelig (1920-2005), who was the National Science Foundation Representative in Christchurch during eleven United States Antarctic Research Program austral deployments between 1971 and 1986. In 1964-65 he was scientific coordinator for the United States / New Zealand Ross Sea Islands Survey conducted from the USCGC "Glacier". |
