Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Named in association with Admiralty Mountains on the adjacent Victoria Land in Antarctica. The mountains were discovered in 1841 by Capt. James Ross (English Royal Navy) and named by him for the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty under whose orders he served.
