Notes |
GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1997. History: Named after the Japanese author, poet, pioneering feminist, pacifist, and social reformer Akiko Yosano (1878-1942), during the late Meiji to early Showa periods of Japan. She was one of the most famous and controversial post-classical woman poets of Japan. Akiko is the first name as, at that time, it was common and popular for Japanese writers to be called by their first names. This feature is part of the Great Writers Seamount Province. |
