Notes |
GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Dayang Yihao". Year of discovery: 2009. History: The term "Baiyun", which means white cloud, comes from a poem known as Baihua in Shijing·Xiaoya. Shijing is a collection of ancient Chinese Poems from the 11th to 6th centuries BC: "When thick clouds spread across the sky on reeds and cogon grass, heavy dew lies. The way of fate is harsh and blind. My lord has thrown me out of mind." This means white cloud lying dew on the reeds, which serves as a foil to the husband who could not take good care of his wife. |
