Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1997. History: Named after the Japanese novelist and surgeon Ogai Mori (1862-1922), during the Meiji period of Japan. He is regarded as one of the leading novelists in the Japanese literature. Ogai is the first name as, at that time, it was common and popular for Japanese writers to be called by their first names. This feature is associated with the nearby Great Writers Seamount Province.    
GEBCO: associated meeting, proposer and year of proposal (en): Associated meeting: SCUFN-30. Proposer: Japanese Committee on Undersea Feature Names (JCUFN). History: 2017.    
Additional information (en): This feature has a conical shape, with a slightly elongated basement, and a steepness of ~ 18 %. Most of the Japanese writers relevant to the Great Writers Seamount Province were active in late 1800's to early 1900's. Minimum depth (m): 4551. Maximum depth (m): 5961. Total relief (m): 1410. Dimension: 15 km × 15 km
