Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Dayang Yihao". Year of discovery: 2010. History: Named after the Chinese folk navigator and traveler Wang Dayuan (1311 AD - ?) who carried out two ocean-going voyages, including navigation to Southeast Asia, South Asia, West Asia, Indian Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. Based on his experience, he wrote a famous book involving more than 220 nations and regions of Asia, Africa and Europe. This book is important to study ocean-going activities during the Yuan Dynasty of China.
