Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Dayang Yihao". Year of discovery: 1995. History: The term "Weihui" comes from a poem known as Sigan in Shijing·Xiaoya. Shijing is a collection of ancient Chinese Poems from the 11th to 6th centuries BC: "What did you see in your good dream? I saw bears big and small; I saw reptiles, snakes and all." This poem described a good dream, with a bear and a snake. "Xiong" and "Pi" mean bears while "Hui" and "She" mean snakes in Chinese, which is believed to be a good omen for bearing a baby.
