Notes Additional information (en): avaqatigiik Seamount is located in the region of the Northern Canada Basin in the Arctic Ocean. Feature Description: Max depth: 3,770m; Min depth: 2,638m, Total Relief: 1,132m. Survey vessels: USCG Icebreaker ‘Healy’ and Canadian Icebreaker ‘Louis S. St. Laurent’. Meaning: ‘Savaqatigiik’; ‘cooperation’ in the Inupiak dialect of Alaska. The seamount was discovered on a U.S./Canadian collaborative mission with support from the native community. History: The name means "Cooperation" in Inuktitut, one of the principal Inuit languages of Canada. This feature was discovered on a U.S./Canadian collaborative mission with support from the native community. The name expresses the scientific cooperation and collaboration needed to discover features such as this one, as well as respect for and collaboration with the native community.
