Notes Additional information (en): This feature has two peaks and a slightly elongated shape. The single position is that of the shallowest point. Minimum depth (m): 1299. Maximum depth (m): 5722. Total relief (m): 4423. Dimension/size: 75 km × 55 km.    
GEBCO: associated meeting, proposer and year of proposal (en): Associated meeting: SCUFN-31. Proposer: Japanese Committee on Undersea Feature Names (JCUFN). History: 2018.    
GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Shoyo". Year of discovery: 2000. History: Named after Dr. Aikitsu Tanakadate (1856-1952), a Japanese world-renowned geophysicist. He initiated in 1892 the founding of the current Earthquake Research Institute at the University of Tokyo and, in 1899, the founding of the current National Astronomical Observatory of Japan in Mizusawa. He was also in charge of aero-magnetic surveys at the Hydrographic Department of Japan and successfully conducted, in 1912-13, the first nation-wide magnetic survey campaign.
