GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1999. History: Named from its shape as this feature looks like a broad-ribbed limpet (a mollusk), "Unoashi" in Japanese. The feature comprises a major seamount and an associated smaller one, making think of an adult and his child. "Kozure" is the Japanese for taking a child, meaning that "Kozure-Unoashi" refers to a broad-ribbed limpet with its child. |
