Notes Additional information (en): This feature has a distorded and elongated shape. The single position is that of the shallowest point. Minami-Tori Shima Island, also known as Marcus Island, is an isolated Japanese coral atoll in the Northwest Pacific Ocean, and the easternmost land territory of Japan. Minimum depth (m): 2995. Maximum depth (m): 5888. Total relief (m): 2893. Dimension/size: 75 km × 45 km.

GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1999. History: "Kurogamo" is the Japanese for a black scoter. A series of Seamounts and Guyots around the nearby Minami-Tori Shima Island (literally "Southern Bird Island" in Japanese) have been given bird names.
