Notes Additional information (en): Feature description: An undersea hill in the Southern Ocean. History/Origin/Meaning: Dr Edward Kidson (1882-1939), Director of NZ Met Service, was an authority on Antarctic meteorology. He was part of the magnetic survey team on the 1907 Canterbury Philosophical Institute Sub-Antarctic Islands Scientific Expedition, and wrote up Shackleton and Mawson expedition meteorological data.

History: Named after Dr Edward Kidson (1882-1939), who was an authority on Antarctic meteorology and who made a meaningful contribution to ocean science as a member of New Zealand’s 1907 Sub-Antarctic Islands Scientific Expedition.
