Notes Additional information (en): This feature has a nearly conical shape. It is subducting into the northern most part of theMariana Trench. The term "Tomodachi" also refers to the "Operation Tomodachi" that the US Government developed in the tsunami-devastated area in the northern Honshu Island, Japan, after the Great Tohoku Earthquake in March 11, 2011. This operation helped saving many lives in the area. Minimum depth (m): 4850. Maximum depth (m): 7695. Total relief (m): 2845. Dimension/size: 34 km × 29 km.

GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Shoyo". Year of discovery: 2001. History: Named in reference to the friendly cooperation of the Japanese Committee on Undersea Feature Names (JCUFN) and the Advisory Committee on Undersea Features (ACUF - of the US Board of Geographical Names), in naming this feature. The term "Tomodachi" stands for "Friend" in Japanese.
