GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: French research vessel "L'Atalante". Year of discovery: 1993. History: Tucumã is a palm tree native to the Amazon region, typical of the Pará State, Brazil. The tree is 10 to 15 m high. The palm heart, fruits and seeds are used as food, while the leaves are used in craftworks. The oil extracted from its seeds and fruits is used for the production of cosmetics and biofuel.
