GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Australian research vessel "Investigator". Year of discovery: 2017. History: Boongorang means “blowing in the wind” in the language of the Noongar people who are the indigenous people of the part of Australia that was adjacent to the Sabrina Coast before continental break up and drift. The name was chosen because this feature was mapped while bad weather delayed planned activities.
