GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Dayang Yihao". Year of discovery: 2020. History: Named after Hou Xian (approximately 1365~1438 A.D.), a Chinese navigator who participated in the second and third voyages to the Indian Ocean as Zheng He's deputy in 1407-1411. He traveled to many Asian countries and promoted economic and cultural exchanges between China and Asian countries.
