Additional information (en): A submarine fan in the North Pacific located at the base of Eel Canyon. The name Eel Fan is introduced in the literature in 1971 and has been used continually ever since. Eel Fan is alternately known as Gorda Fan, which, if approved, will be added as a variant name. Proposed by the U.S. Extended Continental Shelf (ECS) project at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Approved by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names at USBGN Meeting 279; 21 July 2020. |
