GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Indonesian Navy survey vessel "KRI Spica 934". Year of discovery: 2021. History: Named from the nearby Yiew Island, close to Palau, where there are endemic birds ("Yiew", in local language). The term Vero is derived from the Sanskrit language and means "Queen of the Ocean". Therefore, Yiew Vero stands for "Bird Queen of the Ocean".
