Notes Additional information (en): This feature has an elongated shape. Several undersea features nearby the Ninety East Ridge have been named after Chinese teas, which symbolize the friendly trade relations between China and Indian Ocean countries. Mingmei also gets its name from the lady’s beautiful eyebrows, and this feature looks like eyebrow from the top view. Minimum depth (m): 2679. Maximum depth (m): 4596. Total relief (m): 1917. Dimension/size: 76 km x 19 km.

History: Named from the Mingmei, a kind of green tea produced in Wuyuan, Jiangxi Province of China. The Indian Ocean was one of the major sea routes for transportation, trade and cultural interaction between ancient China and other countries. China shipped tea, ceramics and silk to countries along the Indian Ocean and extended to Europe through sea trade.
