GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Mexican Research Vessel "Dr. Jorge Carranza Fraser". Year of discovery: 2016. History: Named after Rodolfo Ramírez Granados (1923-1997), a Mexican fisheries biologist with a deep knowledge of fishing and aquaculture. He came up with the idea of creating the Fisheries Institute and, by his example, sowed the mystique of selfless work and dedication.
