Additional information (en): This feature has an elongated shape. From 2013-2018, the Chinese Academy of Sciences conducted biological surveys of seamounts in the western Pacific Ocean, where Shuangpan sponges were discovered at the depth of 900 to 2000 m. Several undersea features in this area have been be named after groups of Pacific Ocean species. Minimum depth (m): 2327. Maximum depth (m): 5279. Total relief (m): 2952. Dimension/size: 51 km x 25 km. |

History: "Shuangpan" is the Chinese name for the sponge species “Amphidiscosida”, with its two legs ("two" is “shuang” in Chinese). Similarly, the feature has two mountain tops. |
