History: Named after Zou Yan, the first Chinese marine theorist from the Warring States period (770-221 BC). He put forward the theory of the "Big and Small Jiuzhou Theory", which held that the earth's land was divided into nine continents, China being one of them. Each continent was surrounded by neritic zone and oceanic zone. His theory made a significant contribution to ancient geography, reflecting the knowledge and speculation about the geography of China and the world during the Warring States period. He considered that China was only a small part of the world and clarified for the first time the concept of the sea area between the offshore and the ocean.
