GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Cuvier is a historical name for features in this area. Presumably named from the nearby coastal feature, Cape Cuvier, NW Australia. The name "Cuvier" originates from the French expedition led by Baudin in 1800-1803. Reportedly after Georges Cuvie    
Additional information (en): Incorrectly named Wallaby Plateau by Symonds and Cameron, 1977. The incorrect name appears on the AGSO bathymetric map "Hartog" which this feature was taken from.
